In the first quarter of 2025, the maps and navigation app market in Costa Rica saw varied performance among the top five applications on the unified platform. Here’s a closer look at their trends based on data from Sensor Tower.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a robust presence with weekly downloads peaking at around 10.8K in mid-January, before gradually declining to approximately 7.8K by the end of March. The app's weekly active users showed a generally upward trend, starting at 781.5K and reaching 877.9K, with notable fluctuations throughout the quarter.

Uber - Request a ride experienced consistent weekly downloads, starting at 9.4K and slightly decreasing to 7.9K by the quarter's end. Its weekly active users, however, displayed a positive trend, beginning at 697.6K and increasing to 785.1K, indicating growing engagement.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides saw an increase in weekly downloads, starting from 5.7K and reaching a high of 9K in early March, then settling at 6.4K. Active users rose significantly from 342.5K to a peak of 417.1K, before slightly decreasing to 376.9K by the end of the quarter.

inDrive. Rides with fair fares had stable weekly downloads, fluctuating between 4.3K and 5.2K. The app's active users demonstrated an upward trend, beginning at 76K and reaching 84.6K, suggesting steady user retention and growth.

Phone Tracker and GPS Location showed a gradual increase in weekly downloads from 1.7K to 3K, with active users rising from 5.4K to 6.8K, marking a positive trajectory in user engagement.
